A cookie is a piece of information which many Web sites transfer to a user's hard disk. Cookies can inform the Web site which pages you visit and your preferences. This enables the Web site to customize the display it sends to you. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to warn you before accepting them. To alter Internet Explorer browser settings, go to Privacy settings within the Internet options screen. To do this in Netscape, go to Privacy & Security within the browser preferences.
